Arts & Sciences
Arts and Sciences, or A&S, is a time to work on any crafts, whether it be the research behind the craft itself or working on your project. A&S ranges far and wide, from sewing to brewing, leatherwork, jewelry making, chainmail, and much more. Interested in books? There’s bookbinding, calligraphy and illumination.
Enjoy soaps and candles? Learn to make them! The list is endless – there is something for everyone. We will always do our best to help along with research if there is something our Shire cannot provide insight on.
Want to take it a step further? As a registered member of the SCA, a lot of events hold A&S competitions where you can enter your piece of art for judging, along with the research behind it. There are even regional competitions you can enter, as well.
Tetradia is the Shire’s Mistress of Arts and Sciences. A&S is held every other Thursday at the Downtown Library in the basement. Outlets and tables are available for those who need to use sewing machines; a sewing machine is available for loan from Gemma.
