Archery & Throwing Weapons

Archery & Throwing Weapons

Ever wanted to shoot a traditional bow? Have experience with modern archery, but want to try your hand at something more primitive? At Archery practices, the SCA shoots with all traditional bows, meaning there are no “special gadgets” on the bow. The bow and the arrows are all typically wood.

We learn and practice how to shoot and aim and offer one another advice during these practices. This is a time to enjoy the sport and for those who wish to compete at SCA events, get plenty of training in.

Archery Practice Time: Sundays 5:30-7:00pm

Thrown Weapons Practice Time: Sundays 7:00-8:00pm

Practices are subject to change or cancellation.  Refer to the Events Calendar for updates.

We have two archery marshals Locke Collingwood and Lady Gemma Cappleman. Our thrown weapons marshal is Thor Eriksson.  We have practice every Sunday at Thor’s house or the Galveston archery range (depending on the time of year). Please come to the meetings for more information or check the Event Calendar.
